The ATELIER Project
- Citizen driven
- Atelier are collaborating with the European Commission Research and Framework Programme Horizon 2020, receiving funding from the European Commission to develop new technology and solutions in various fields…mobility, energy, and ICT.
- Joined in November 2019, with 17 members already on board with Horizon 2020.
- Within the next 5 years (2019-2024) developing PEDs to lighthouse cities (8 in total).
- Lighthouse city is a living lab for developing and testing of integrated innovative solutions at district scale. (Shared electricity and a connected mobility future)
- Aim of bringing cities together, citizens and industry to display solutions + business models, that can potentially be enlarged and replicated.
8 Lighthouse PEDs
- Amsterdam (Demo city) - The Netherlands
- Bilboa (Demo City) - Spain
- Bratislava - Slovakia
- Budapest - Hungary
- Copenhagen - Denmark
- Krakow - Poland
- Matosinhos - Portugal
- Riga - Latvia
- With these PEDs Atelier will produce an energy surplus of 1,340MWh of primary energy + save 1.7 kilotons of CO2 + 23 tons of NOX emissions. (Nitrogen Oxides, fuel burned at a high temperature)
- Atelier’s Aim: To empower their citizens to play a vital role in the energy system as a prosumer > consuming + producing energy at the same time.
- Aim of physical Atelier: produce a self-sustaining meeting place for different stakeholders but most importantly citizens and local investors – closely to be involved within the design process and application of smart solutions within the districts.
- Citizen engagement + Social innovation, important cornerstone.
- Initiatives: Smart City Information System, European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communication – learn + benefit from partnership + knowledge exchange.
